Implementing the School CPR Program is the responsibility of the Coordination of Socio-Educational Policies of the educational organization.The presentation ceremony was headed by the member of the General Council of Education, Rita Nievas; the coordinator of Socio-Educational Policies of the educational organization, Rosana Fernández; the director of Physical Education, Roque Chaves; and the departmental director of schools in Federal, Santiago Krenz.
CPR Training Initiative
On the occasion, a training session was held for the 18 facilitators who will work in the schools of each department. The training was conducted by representatives of the Physical Education Department of the General Council of Education, who explained the techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation with only the hands and maneuvers in the event of choking with the projection of videos. Then each participant practiced with the material provided for that purpose. The coordinator of transversal policies of the CGE, Rosana Fernández, explained that in the meeting the 18 facilitators -two per department- who are going to work in nine departments of the province were brought together, “to address the line of CPR in schools, which consists of training, workshops, theoretical and practical for teachers, students, non-teaching staff who are in the institutions, to highlight this topic that is so important for society as a whole”.
Choking Prevention Training
Meanwhile, the director of Physical Education of the CGE, Roque Chaves, indicated that it is a collaborative work from the modality for the development of the workshop to the 18 facilitators, “in which the teachers explained the techniques and then were in charge of the practices with the materials available for said training”. In addition, Rosana Fernández said, “This year we are going to intensify and emphasize everything that has to do with the action in the event of a choking situation to avoid one of the most common accidents that occur in our schools, which can happen in the playground or dining room, that is why we incorporated non-teaching staff so that they have tools and know how to act in the event of these events.”
Comprehensive Training Plan
The program will initially be implemented in the following departments: Paraná, La Paz, Gualeguay, Gualeguaychú, Islas, Concordia, Villaguay, Federal, and Federación. The referent of Socio-educational Policies explained that the work plan will be developed, “the first step, the facilitators will approach the corresponding Departmental Directorate of Schools and together with the departmental school director and the school supervisors put together a work schedule.” He also indicated that the initial idea “is to train the entire universe of students, teachers and non-teaching staff who are in the institutions of the departments in the subject,” said Fernández.
